Giving Back | by Elizabeth Peterson, Barristers President

This February marks the 25th anniversary of the Barristers’ Roxbury Park Legal Clinic. It was the brainchild of both Christopher Bradford (a former Association President and my Uncle) and Richard Kaplan during their tenure together as President and Vice President of the Barristers Board of Governors.

The Clinic began in 1993 as a way to help local seniors with the unique legal matters that affect them most. The project began as a response to a recognized need in the community for seniors to have access to free legal advice without having to travel far.

Initially, the Clinic also included a Speakers Program featuring local attorneys presenting informative talks on a variety of legal subjects which affect the senior community. Since then, the focus of the Clinic has expanded to include all local residents in need of legal advice on a range of issues such as landlord/tenant disputes, trust and estates issues, family law, and general civil litigation.

The Roxbury Park Legal Clinic is a cornerstone of the Barristers’ pro bono efforts and one of our longest running programs. This year, we wish to thank Richard and Christopher for their ingenuity and foresight in spearheading such an important and enduring program for the Barristers. Their legacy continues as we look forward to another year of giving back to our local community through Roxbury Park and all of the other Barrister programs. We look forward to honoring their legacy at the upcoming 25th Anniversary Celebration to take place on April 18, 2018. Please mark your calendars!
